The IQ scale is a distribution, not a ranking. By definition 68 people out of 100 fall between 85 and 115. A single value only means something once you know how precisely it was measured.
Five areas, not one number
The test asks six questions in each of five areas. That produces a profile, and the profile produces an overall value. Showing only the overall value withholds half the result.
Logical reasoning
Recognising rules in abstract patterns and continuing them. This area needs no language and no prior knowledge. Research regards it as the best single indicator of general reasoning ability.
Numerical reasoning
Grasping relations between numbers, recognising rules in sequences, reasoning on from them. Mental arithmetic as such is not required: the question is whether you see the rule.
Verbal reasoning
Recognising relations of meaning between concepts. This area depends more on language and education than the others do. That is exactly why we report it separately instead of hiding it inside the overall value.
Spatial reasoning
Rotating, folding and assembling objects in your head. Relevant for engineering, the trades, medicine and anything involving plans and models.
Deductive reasoning
Drawing binding conclusions from given conditions and spotting false ones. This is the area closest to what everyday language calls logical thinking.

What you will not find here
An online test cannot do a great many things. We write that here instead of hiding it in the small print.
- No clinical verdict
- The result is an orientation value, not a clinical assessment. A binding evaluation requires a standardised procedure carried out by a qualified professional, in Switzerland for instance at your canton's school psychology service or with FSP specialist psychologists.
- No Swiss norm sample
- Our reference distribution rests on the model and on a growing sample of our own, not on a representative survey in Switzerland. The report says so too. Anyone promising you a representative norm sample should be able to prove it.
- No invented numbers
- You will find no claim here about how many millions of people have taken the test, and no reviews written by people who do not exist. What we show has been measured.
- No number without its uncertainty
- Every value comes with its 95 per cent confidence interval. With 30 questions that interval is about 25 points wide, and we measured that figure rather than guessing it. It is uncomfortable, but it is the truth about a short test. Anyone selling you a score to the nearest point is pretending that uncertainty away.

Frequently asked questions
Why is there an interval next to my IQ?
Because every measurement has an uncertainty. A short test with 30 questions estimates your ability, it does not measure it exactly. The 95 per cent confidence interval says: with that probability your true value lies inside this interval. With 30 questions it is about 25 points wide, the standard error being 6.4 IQ points, measured on 4000 simulated runs. That sounds like a lot, and it is a lot: that is how precise a short test is, whichever provider you use. Anyone selling you a score without that interval is withholding half the information.
Do I have to sign up?
No. For the test you need neither an account nor an email address. We only ask for an email address when you buy the report, so that we can send you the download link.
How can I pay?
By credit card or TWINT. Payment runs through Stripe. Your payment details never reach our server, we only see that a payment has arrived.
Is the result comparable to a clinical IQ test?
Only roughly. A standardised instrument administered by a qualified professional takes one to two hours, runs under controlled conditions and is normed on a representative sample. Our test is a short test in a browser. It gives a usable orientation value and expressly not a clinical assessment.
Do you use tracking or advertising cookies?
Advertising cookies, no. Reach measurement, yes: we use Google Analytics 4 with the IP address shortened, and two cookies are set for it. No advertising pixels, no ad networks. The fonts still sit on our own server. We also count page views ourselves, without a cookie and without recognising anyone. Your answers and your result are not passed to Google.
